Sparring classes

Thursday 3.30pm – 5-12 years old.

Thursday 7.50pm – Teens and adults.

Saturday 1.10pm – All ages.

Our sparring classes cater to people at all levels – from beginners to internationally competing professionals. The sparring classes are lead by coaches who have been very successful on the international stage. Our coaches have a huge amount of competition experience, and focus on technique and strategy. Coach Eisa qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics and has been on the national teams in Iran, Australia and New Zealand and has won multiple international events. Coach Omid has won gold at the Military World Championships, and Universiade World Championships, as well as many other international competitions.

The sparring team attends competitions around New Zealand and there are also opportunities for international competitions. If you take part in the sparring classes, you will be invited to attend competitions once your coaches feel you are ready.

All ages from 6 years old to adults can participate in sparring classes, but you must be at least yellow belt. The sparring classes help you become a better martial artist, both physically and mentally. If you are looking for a challenge, whether or not you want to compete, these classes are a great next step. Message Eisa on 02108333326 if you are interested.

Other notes:

Sparring is full contact. Full protective equipment must be worn every class (helmet, mouth guard, chest protector, arm guards, gloves, groin guard, shin guards and foot guards). It is important for both yourself, and those you are sparring with that you are wearing the correct equipment. If you would like to trial sparring, we can provide spare equipment for the first session.

You MUST talk with a coach before starting sparring classes, read the information they give you, and sign the consent form. Sparring is full contact, and so carries more injury risks that you need to be aware of.
